TOP 3 SEO TOOLS FOR SMALL WEBSITES

TOP 3 SEO TOOLS FOR SMALL WEBSITES

If you have a website for your small business and you are not happy with your organic traffic, you don’t necessarily need to hire an agency to do SEO. If you have some SEO knowledge and understand how search engines work, then save money and do the work by yourself.

There are many useful SEO tools out there that can help you to fix some of your SEO issues. Some are expensive and there are some that are affordable. I will talk about a few of them.

MOZ

Moz is one of the most convenient SEO tools to use. It is easy to understand, easy to navigate, and gives you a lot of useful information.

Moz Product offers:

Open Site Explorer – This gives information about domain and page authority and backlinks. The link comparison option allows you to do competitive analysis (5 URLs at a time).

Keyword Explorer – Moz’s new tool is great to conduct keyword research. It takes the numbers from Google. Rand Fishkin says the numbers are accurate 95% of the time. It helps to find and prioritize the best keywords for your site.

Crawl Test- It crawls the whole website within a few hours and sends an email notification that the crawl is complete. The report is very thorough. The Moz bot crawls up to 3000 pages. The crawl test report includes URLs (long, dynamic), title tags (too short or too long), HTTP status codes (client errors or server errors), meta descriptions (long, missing, or duplicate), link count, content-type header, 301 and 302 redirects, search engines blocked by robots.txt. and more. By fixing those issues reported you will improve your .

MozBar- It gives you live metrics right in your Chrome or Firefox browser: domain and page authority, social media shares.

SEMRUSH

Another affordable SEO tool that costs almost the same as Moz, but you can get more from it.

Analytics Reports-  Get insights into your competitors’ strategies in display advertising, organic and paid search, and link building.

Just like Moz, SEMrush offers ranking reports from different search engines and locations.

Organic Research – A great tool to see competitors’ best keywords and observe position changes of domains.

Advertising Research – This is something that Moz doesn’t offer. This report helps you to uncover your competitors’ ad strategies and budget. It helps to analyze your competitors’ ad copy and keywords.

Backlinks – SEMRush’s backlink report is as good as Moz’s is. It shows backlink types, the anchor texts, referring domains’ authorities.

Screaming Frog

The last SEO tool I want to talk about is Screaming Frog. It’s free for up to 500-page websites. The software crawls the site and gives you very technical and thorough information. It generates the reports within a minute. Screaming Frog has a section about meta tags, H1s, URLs, 301 redirects, and more. It shows how many pages are missing meta tags, alt tags, H1s, and more. It also tells how much your website is relying on JavaScript. It also can generate an XML sitemap. It’s one of the best free SEO tools out there.

There are many free or affordable SEO tools, but these 3 tools are more than enough for any small website owner to identify SEO issues and find solutions for them. If you are not happy with your own results or need more information about these tools, contact Robb Digital for a free SEO Audit.
