5 Tips to help you Write Great Blogs

Even though I write for a living, I still have trouble coming up with ideas for blog posts for Robb Digital. I will often find myself with a handful of ideas for blogs and other times with zero ideas. I decided to put together a list of five tips to help you write great blogs.

Writing blogs is very important for your website. Not only can you help position yourself as an expert in your field, but you can also grow the traffic to your website with higher search engine rankings.

1. Know Your Audience

Before you write anything, it is important to know who will be reading your blog post. This should not be too hard to figure out. For instance, as a digital marketing agency, we are targeting people who are interested in web design, search engine optimization, or content marketing and management. If you are a lawyer your audience would be people needing the services of an experienced attorney. If you specialize in commercial collections your audience would be businesses that are trying to collect a debt. Once you know your audience you will be able to craft great blog posts.

2. Create a Content Calendar

Once you have an idea of who you are writing for you can plan out a list of posts for your blog. Planning ahead will give you the ability to write a number of blogs at one time and then schedule them to post at the desired time on your blog. A calendar will let you plan your topics out ahead of time.

3. Schedule Time to Write

It is easy to get so busy that you forget to blog. Stop reading this and go into your calendar and schedule some time to write blog posts in the next few weeks. Scheduling time to blog will help you write more often. Writing more often will make you a better writer and then you will have great blog posts.

4. Engage Your Readers with Questions

It would be great if after reading your blog someone decides to take action. Whether they decide to reach out to talk with you about your services or take the time to connect on social media, your blog motivated them to take action. The best way to do this is by asking them questions. Of course, if you ask a question you have to be prepared for a variety of responses. Questions help get the dialogue going for every blog post you write.

5. Have Fun

Writing can be a chore. Especially since some people are better writers than others. If you write about the content you like, then you will have more fun writing blog posts. Your readers will be able to tell from your blogs that you enjoy what you are doing because of the tone of your blogs. Passion can be infectious!
